James Miller Photography
I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit my website and look through some of my photography. I hope you saw an image or two that may have spoken to you or maybe brought back memories from a time you visited a place that holds a special place in your heart, even if there wasn't an image of it here.
I am a part-time freelance photographer living in the Pacific Northwest. Even though photography isn't my main form of income, it is my biggest passion and something that brings me joy in life.
My interest in photography was sparked at a very early age. Growing up a military brat, my family moved and traveled a lot, and my dad used to document those travels with his camera. I used to try to borrow it and shoot photos with it as much as I could get away with and when I was 9 years old, he bought me my very first camera, probably to keep me from breaking his. It was a small plastic toy like camera, but it used real 35mm film and started me on my path of a lifelong love of photography.
I purchased my first 35mm film camera with money I earned working a summer job in Berlin Germany. I learned to develop and print my own work during that time and would spend countless hours in the darkroom every weekend learning as much as I could about the craft. In 2000, that camera finally wore out and died on me. Digital photography was just beginning to draw attention in the photography world so instead of replacing my film camera, I decided to take a risk and made the jump to digital. I haven't looked back. I loved that I could experiment with shots and see results instantly and know that is what helped me grow even more as a photographer.
